I’ve waffled with the idea of starting a blog to record DIY projects for years. There were so many excuses stopping me: I didn’t have time or I never take photos, this stuff I make isn’t interesting or perfect enough to document or valid. But all of that’s nonsense!
The simple truth is I can do it. I have every tool at my disposal and I constantly get told that I make/do/design cool things. My friends actively ask me for help decorating and personalizing their spaces or wrapping gifts or even picking plants for their yards. (To be honest, the last one is a mistake. My plants are alive by miracle, not skill.)
If I’m inspired by what I see in magazines, in others’ homes, on TikTok or YouTube or HGTV, I know you are. And if my budget can’t achieve the incredible results of Rock the Block or an Architectural Digest tour, maybe yours can’t either. But why should that limit how we design the spaces around us and how they bring us joy?
From one cluttered, hands-in-too-many-jars, slightly maximalist DIYer to another (c’mon, you’re at least an aspiring DIYer), we can DIY that. We can achieve dream homes on a dime, or if not a dime, at least a fraction of a many thousand dollar price tag and it can look great. Hell — better than great!
